I was traveling with a school group and 2 of the girls had bites on legs and midriff. I reported it to the hotel and they moved our things to another floor and said that they would have someone come in and inspect the room the next day and give us a report. I checked in the next day at the front desk to see if anything had been done and all they could tell me was that there were not any notes under our account.

The Bowery hotel at 220 Bowery st is one of a kind, nice affordable and very accommodating. Like others who used this hotel I never thought would find bedbugs in any of it’s rooms but sadly it was not the case. There was one night were I found these nasty devils crawling on bed. Gladly I was awake and saw them photo some of them and immediately reported this to the receptionist who was quite helpful change the room for me and reported this to the supper. Now will have to destroy all my belongings or heart disinfect them. What a waste I might not recover from this loss these are new items and electronics that I can not over heat or bring anywhere… Not sure what to do…???!

  • 2012-04-18 – 420-428 Amsterdam Apartments

428 Amsterdam Avenue, New York, NY – Room Number: 1 B

This management company is the absolute worst I have ever dealt with in my entire life. We lived in the apartment for 2 years and within the first year they tried to raise the rent 500 more dollars a month. Then even after the extreme rent hike, they never EVER came in to fix our 2 broken windows from the previous renters. Then to top it all off, we started noticing bugs. Of course they were indeed BED BUGS. We spent thousands of dollars to eradicate this problem and make sure that we were working in tandem with the exterminator. The management company told us they would meet us in the middle and pay for half of our expenses. We moved out 2 months ago and we are still awaiting this money! I call the office and the owners REFUSE to speak to me. This is the most unprofessional company. They treat you like dirt! Do not rent from 420-428 Amsterdam LLC in the upper west side. Worst decision of our lives. STAY AWAY.

  • 2011-12-27 – Hilton Garden Inn New York West 35th Street

63 West 35th Street, New York, NY – Room Number: 219

First night after hotel stay, I woke up with several bites. Mentioned it to my husband, but didn’t pursue it. Later after checking websites, I found that others had experienced bed bugbites there. Pretty sure from pictures, time they appeared, and never having these bites before, that is what they were. Just hoping that we didn’t bring them back with us. Have washed all clothes, sprayed luggage, etc. in assumption that one may have hitchhiked back with us. I don’t feel it would do any good to call this hotel, since they denied a previous claim from someone else. The hotel was lovely, the staff very helpful and friendly, I am just very sad that this has now put a damper on our 30th anniversary trip. I have noticed that the bedbugs reports are plentiful for many Manhattan hotels. I pray that we didn’t bring them back to the country.

  • 2011-09-01 – Club Quarters, Downtown

52 William Street, New York, NY – Room Number: 1105

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights (July 2nd-4th) and did not notice any bites during the stay. We then came back to Montreal, probably bringing some bed bugs with us. But 3 weeks after, we got several bites. The doctors thought it was only an allergy. Almost 1,5 months after, and a couple dozen more bites, we found a colony in our bed base and had to through away both the mattress and bed base. We now have to treat all the building.

  • 2011-08-25 – Fairfield Inn & Suites New York Manhattan/Times Square

330 West 40th Street, New York, NY – Room Number: 3006

2 bites on each leg.

  • 2011-08-04 – AMC Movie Theater 42nd Street Times Square

34 West 42nd Street, New York, NY

I was bit on Saturday night July 30th, 2011 by bed bugs while seeing a movie at the AMC Theater on 42nd Street in Times Square. I have 5 huge welts on my back.

  • 2011-07-15 – Sun Bright Hotel

120 Hester Street, New York, NY – Room Number: 578

I am covered in bed bug bites. There are classic signs of bugs all over the place under the bed. Molted bedbugs exoskeletons were found next to the bed. I am currently in the process of having all o my clothes and luggage treated. Do not stay here. Be warned.

  • 2011-07-11 – Beekman Tower Hotel

49th Street and First Ave, New York, NY – Room Number: 21B

  • 2011-04-14 – Virgo Business Centers New York

304 Park Avenue South, New York, NY – Room Number: 10th and 11th floor

Carpets and furniture seems to have bed bugs. Spoke to Manager a few times but she ignored the request and did nothing about it. This was her general attitude the entire time we were leasing the space. She is great until you have a request. Sweeping things under the carpet (no pun) was the attitude towards our request. Good Luck!

  • 2011-02-09 – Affinia Manhattan

371 Seventh Ave., New York, NY

We stayed at theis hotel for two nights and after the second night my husband woke up seeing a couple of bed bugs crawling on his sheet along with blood stains. He killed one and brought it to the front desk. First they denied it and then the Housekeeping director acknowledged it and refunded us. However our nightmare didn not end there! Even washing everything after we came home, we managed to bring the bugs with us. Two weeks later, we all got bitten. We hired the exterminator and after the first treatment, my husband still got bitten! Two treatments will cost us $6000, but it does not seem work because our house is old and porous with many hiding places for the bed bugs. This is an absolute horror story which I do not even know how it will end! Please stay away from this hotel!

  • 2011-02-06 – Hotel on Rivington

107 Rivington Street, New York, NY

The Hotel Rivington has bed bugs on the fourth floor. I brought some home in suit case, and it has been really terrible. They multiply like crazy and it takes really severe pesticides to kill them. Don’t let this happen to you.

  • 2011-02-01 – Hilton Garden Inn New YorkWest 35th Street

63 West 35th Street, New York, NY

We stayed here last weekend and are now covered in red swollen spots which we’ve NEVER had before in our own home. I didn’t think anything of it, but now am fairly certain that we were bit by bed bugs while staying here… which is too bad, because it was a nice hotel.

  • 2010-11-23 – Hudson Hotel

356 West 58th Street, New York, NY

Possibly a bedbug on my bag after having checked it in the coat check room during an event. It sure looked like a bedbug compared to photos I’ve seen. It could have possibly come from somewhere else, as I noticed it about 30 minutes after I left the hotel.

  • 2010-11-12 – Ace Hotel NYC

20 West 29th Street – 9th Floor, New York, NY

1186 Tenant LLC on 11/12/2010 Do you want bedbugs? Then stay at the ACE NYC. There are a hand full of tenants who live in the ACE hotel 20 West 29th Street and report bedbugs to the hotel and they don’t care because it is not one of their hotel rooms. It has been brought to the hotel managers attention that a room on one of their floors is infested with bed bugs. We were that they are not concerned with tenant issues and that they would not forward my message to the hotel (we asked that he pass this on to Jan Rozenveld – ACE Hotel GM). Why would tourists want to stay at the Ace hotel NYC when managers don’t care about bed bugs in the hotel? It is just a matter of time for all the rooms to be riddled with bedbugs with this kind of attitude.

  • 2010-11-07 – Affinia Fifty

155 E. 50th Street, New York, NY

Stayed here on Nov 2, 2010. Didn’t see anything but ended up with 2 bites on my arm.

  • 2010-10-28 – Murray Hill East Suites

149 E. 39th Street, New York, NY

I am writing to report that the Murray Hill East Suites (149 E 39th St, New York, NY ) hotel has bed bugs. Our company had a client stay at the hotel for 4 nights and while he was there he saw bed bugs in the trash can in his room. Not realizing they were bed bugs (and thinking that the bites on his body were spider bites) he didn’t report it at the time. Once he ended up back home and opened his suitcase he could see the bugs crawling. He then googled bed bugs and realized that these were the bugs in his hotel room as well. The hotel has been notified but would not admit to the problem or refund the stay. This hotel should be marked as having bed bugs on your website

  • 2010-10-23 – New World Hotel

101 Bowery, New York, NY

My friend and I were attending a wedding in NY. I was staying in Brooklyn with family and my friend had to get a hotel in NYC. So she booked New World Hotel for the location and cheap price ($150/night). On the day of the wedding, I stopped by her room to change into formal wear and she told me about finding a bug on her bed, so she squished it as hard as she can to kill it. Well, since neither one of us have seen a bed bug before, I Googled it on my iPhone, according to my friend’s description, it was the “size of a watermelon seed.” My search came back with one answer: bed bugs. Then my friend proceed to tell the hotel of this bug problem. The only response the hotel provided was: There are no vacancies and we cannot do anything about it. Somehow, ten minutes later, they were able to offer her a different room. However, this does not solve the problem because the next day, my friend woke up to find bite marks around her face, neck, and arm. As you can see, the hotel did not do anything to resolve the problem and did not offer to resolve this problem, which has been announced to be “an epidemic.” Upon further Internet searching,I learned that the hotel was reported to have bed bug problems since 2008. As of this report date, it’s 2010 – so in the two years time, the hotel has not resolve the issue. I can conclude that the hotel does not just have a bed bug problem, but a BED BUG INFESTATION.

  • 2010-10-16 – Manhattan Club Suites

200 W 56th St, New York, NY

April 2010 my husband found a single bedbug in the sofa bed and received one bite. When he reported this to the front desk we were immediately moved to another room. Although housekeeping expressed doubt that this was actually a bedbug, (my husband had crushed the critter so that it was rather unrecognizable, but the bright red blood smear indicated what it had been ingesting) a manager assured us that the suite would not be rented again until it had been treated by an exterminator.
