Eliminating Bed Bugs, Creating Peace of Mind

PA Bangor Rental Units Experience Bed Bug Problems They Need BedBug Chasers Bed Bug Treatment

Bed Bug Problems at Bangor Rental Units in Pennsylvania.

The Lehigh Valley Live reports that bed bug problem in the PA Bangor Rental Units seems to have spread to several units. The Bangor Zoning Officer, Rick Fisher, became aware of the problem six months ago and claim that they have not spread to any of the neighboring homeowners yet because they haven’t received a call about it. What if those Bangor PA homeowners have no idea they have bed bugs? What if the other rental units in the Bangor apartments have bed bugs too?

News Article Excerpt from the Lehigh Valley Live:

Bedbugs have infested several apartments in three properties recently in Bangor,Bangor Zoning Officer Rick Fisher said.

Fisher said he became aware of the problem in the borough within the last six months. Bangor PA Bed Bugs rental units

The properties that have been confirmed to have infestations include two units at the 97 N. Main St. property, which was treated after the tenants moved out; two of six units at 13-15 S. Main St.; and one at 2 S. Main St., Fisher said.

Attempts to reach property owners about bed bug treatment were unsuccessful.

“(The bedbugs) don’t seem to be spreading to more than the rental units,” he said. “No homeowners have called (about them).”

Fisher said he isn’t sure where the bedbugs are coming from, but guesses it could be people from out of town or people simply having parties.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, bedbugs do not spread disease, but they can be a pest because they bite and live off of blood.

Bedbugs often bury themselves into furniture, like mattresses and dressers, and aren’t easily found because of their small size, according to the CDC.

“They aren’t class conscious,” Fisher said of where bedbugs live.

Fisher said the borough is trying to track the bedbugs and when people are moving from infested places to noninfested places. Fisher said the borough already has a list of renters and landlords within the borough and is using that to keep track of people.

Fisher said he doesn’t want the bedbugs to spread to other areas.

“We are doing everything we can and being proactive,” Fisher said.

Both tenants and landlords have certain responsibilities when it comes to detecting and performing bed bug treatment.  Fisher said.

Before tenants move into an apartment, the landlord is responsible to treat and protect the building, Fisher said, and after the tenant moves in, it’s the tenant’s responsibility.

“But if you can’t determine who is responsible, it’s very hard to enforce that code,” Fisher said.
